National paradigm of chamber and instrumental creativity of E. Granados
Abstract
The article is dedicated to highlighting the aesthetics of E. Granados creativity. It explores chamber-instrumental heritage of the master in a light of the prevailing trend in Spanish art at the turn of XIX and XX centuries. The purpose of the work is to reveal the concept of E. Granados national idea on the basis of detailed study of author's chamber-instrumental heritage. The following methods were used to reveal the presented issues: historical (study foundations of Spanish composer’s school); source studies (examination of existing musicological works on related issues); analytical, structural and logical (covering the chronology of historical aspect of the problem, mastering the specifics of E. Granados style); method of theoretical generalization (for summarizing). As a result of the study of aesthetic paradigm of the "new Spanish renaissance", it was proved that the creativity of national composer’s school artists-founders was projected on preserve and restore traditions, on their unity in time, on formation of characteristic genres and their national varieties with an emphasis on originality, distinctiveness, clearly expressed ethnicity. The chamber-instrumental heritage of E. Granados, which is based on patriotic ideas of the founder of Renacimiento, F. Padrel, is a valuable source of nation knowledge. Without resorting to direct citation, relying on typical codes inherent only to Spanish music, operating with traditional means of expression, combining stylistic aspects of French and German Romanticism, but not resorting to artificial craftsmanship, at the same time presenting a purely national flavor, the artist created a kind of anthology of Spanish folklore in a professional art. The author's works are designed to interpret the cultural history of the nation, its biography through the prism of author's worldview and individual style in the context of preservation of typical folklore archetypes that have become musical symbols of the nation.
