Abstract

The aim of this paper is in the determination of “playback theatre” as a form of  “entertainment” in modern culture. Research methodology consists in the application of analytical method – to determine the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of “playback theatre” as a form of “entertainment” in modern culture. As a methodological basis, we considered the works of G. Deleuze, F. Guattari, J. Derrida.

It is considered that the Playback “pheater, being a kind of interactive theater of improvisation, contains two main complementary practices, where there are participative and emerging aspects. Such structural elements of the “playback theatre are characterized as: “liquid sculpture” (founded by J. Fox); “transformation”, “chorus”, “five elements”, “painting”, “photo”, “collage”, “domino”, “rosette”, “episodes”.

Novelty of the work is that the phenomenon of “entertainment” is becoming pervasive in modern culture, unfortunately, its innovative beginning not only helps to reveal the creative potential of the individual, but also contributes to the emergence of fragmentary thinking, increasing the tendency of personal dullness of perception. Entertainment, as a sociocultural phenomenon, has been present in human existence since primitive times, but in modern culture, with the advent of the network communication system, it needs a conceptual renewal. Playback theater, unlike other forms of “entertainment” in modern culture, even in the “on-line” format, has retained some traditional features and is a very interesting form of visual-plastic theatrical writing. “Playback theatre”, as a form of “entertainment” in modern culture, acts as an alternative to “techno styles”, supporting traditional “text images” with their inherent interpretation feature. The essence of the “playback theatre” in the modern context is to activate the “new art” to reveal the disclosure of the inner potential of the individual.

The key results of this research can be used by authors and researchers in the development of courses in cultural studies.
