Abstract

The article is dedicated to the issue of importance of acquiring knowledge and developing skills of foreign language cross-cultural communication in the process of learning foreign languages by students and professionals who study and specialize in art, the necessity of paying attention to the aspect of acquiring linguistic and socio-cultural competency in the process of study with the aim of optimizing the process of professional work fulfilment and minimizing risks of employers` refusals during castings, increasing the level of competitiveness is emphasized, the elements of specificity of inter-cultural communication of the level of negotiations on cooperation in the sphere of art are mentioned.

The study leans on the essence of such a phenomenon as cultural intelligence, more precisely – it is about a wider range of meaning of this notion than the notions of “inter-cultural communication” and “sociocultural competence”. The concept denoted by the term “cultural intelligence” develops from the idea of influence of cognitive abilities and relationships that a person is able to form on factors that are both internal and external in relation to the characteristics of an individual's personality in a more complex inter-cultural environment where prevails an unexpected uncertainty in the behaviour of communication partners and relationships with them. At the same time, it is the relation between individual differences of communication participants and situational factors of communication that are particularly important for solving problems of interaction in the modern inter-cultural environment. It is for this reason that it is not efficient to rely formation of socio-cultural competence on individual's own communicative experience. Application of previous contextual cultural and specific language training in the form of specialized courses similar to linguistic and regional studies or elements of translation theory is one of the options for solving the problem.

The question of forming and practical use of foreign language inter-cultural communication skills among students of field-specific non-philological faculties and educational institutions, where there are no specialized directions of training in the philological field, is still in the stage of development. Due to openness of the information space, strengthening of cultural ties of our country, adherence to international standards and requirements for the level of education, adjustment of educational programs, this issue is expanded and demonstrates its new facets. In particular, the speed of international, inter-ethnic, cultural exchange processes encourages the development of greater flexibility, better adaptability to new realities, which is important to underline in view of the faсt that in the field of art and art education the elements of inter-cultural communication are an integral part of professional activity.

The study concerns the issue of dynamics of the process of learning a foreign language, attention is paid to the fact that the speed and quality depends to a large extent on  teacher's approach as well as on the structure of educational program used during the educational process. It is noted that educational institutions are free to choose and create educational programs.

Drawing attention to the issue of acquisition of linguistic and socio-cultural competence by students of field-specific non-philological faculties and specialists in the field of art in the process of learning foreign languages, as well as emphasizing the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills of foreign language inter-cultural communication in the process of learning foreign languages by students and specialists of art specialities is an urgent necessity at the present time, when such modern challenges as mobility, multiculturalism, tolerance, special requirements for the level of education and general erudition, emergence of which is determined by the level of development of information technologies, directly affect the professional activity of a specialist, possibilities of a student's career path, increase of the level of success in development of the field of art.
