«RAVELLO FESTIVAL»: THE DYNAMICS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF MUSIC FESTIVALS IN MODERN ITALY

Abstract

The history of the formation and development of music festivals in Italy, the features of their organization and holding in our time, the role of financial institutions in the implementation of festival events, the many years of experience in holding the «Ravello Festival», one of the most respected festivals in the south of Italy, the 67^th season of which held in 2019. The research methodology consists in applying the inductive method to characterize the festival process. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that for the first time in Ukrainian art history music festivals in Italy are considered as an organic artistic and economic component of the national culture, their traditional and innovative features, prospects for the development of the festival movement in this country are determined. A concrete analysis of the events of the Ravello Festival will contribute to the dissemination of Italian experience and the use of its methods in Ukraine. Findings. «Ravello festival» for a long time, without changing the name, enriches and expands its functions. Today it is a creative organization, in the arsenal of which are modern stages and concert halls, a permanent orchestra of the San Carlo Theater, a recording studio, a magazine, philanthropists, sponsors. The scale of the festival, coordinated management, support by state authorities (region, province and municipality), business sector investments give reason to define the “Ravello Festival” as a festival system, the components of which are interconnected and provide a perfect result. Fondazione Ravello (“Ravello Foundation”) has been monitoring this process for 17 years, convincing that the success and further development of the festival depends on the proper organization at all levels, the cooperation of many state institutions, original proposals, continuous technological and organizational updates, as well as the expansion of cultural, creative , financial ties. All this will provide an opportunity to show the world the historical and artistic sights of the “City of Music” and preserve the «Ravello Festival» for future generations as an Italian cultural brand.
