Musica in open space performing arts
Abstract
The article is dedicated to highlighting the specifics of music in open space performing arts and its interaction with the natural environment. The historical aspects of the development of openspace performances, which have a centuries-old history in European artistic culture, are examined, and modern trends in their evolution are analyzed as they acquire new forms and meanings. It is emphasized that musica, as an important cultural phenomenon, is gradually becoming an integral part of theatrical productions, replacing traditional verbal means of communication, contributing to the creation of a distinct emotional and dramatic tone for the performance. Music not only complements the stage action but also forms unique “audible forms of thought” that enhance the dramatic impact and emotional richness of the performance. The specifics of music in outdoor performances, where interaction with the natural environment creates unique conditions for perceiving sound elements, are discussed. In such performances, music not only enhances the stage action but also actively interacts with visual and spatial components such as set design, lighting, and even the natural environment. The music is analyzed in the context of its social and cultural significance. It is noted that music in open-air performances not only shapes the aesthetic context but also serves as a carrier of social and cultural values, reflecting the spirit of the era, social ideals, and traditions. The musical component strengthens cultural identity and fosters social unity, acting as a cultural code that conveys socially significant messages. The article also analyzes the interactivity between the music and theatrical components, which opens up new possibilities for artistic expression and expands the boundaries of traditional stage perception.
